SDA is the home itself. The support you receive there, such as supported independent living, is funded separately. SDA homes are built to one of four design categories: Improved Liveability, Fully Accessible, Robust and High Physical Support. Residents pay a reasonable rent contribution, worked out from the Disability Support Pension and any Commonwealth Rent Assistance.

How to choose an SDA home in Sydney
SDA homes differ a lot. Before you apply for a vacancy, check:
- The design category and building type match what's approved in your plan.
- Who you'd live with, and how many people share the home.
- Whether you can choose your own support provider, separate from the SDA provider.
- What your rent contribution will be and what it covers.
- Transport, family, work and services nearby.
The hardest part is usually finding one with room. Rather than calling down a list, send one request: only providers who can start when you need accept it.
How it works
- Tell us what you need, where, and how it's funded. It takes about a minute.
- Providers near you who offer that support see your request.
- Those who can start when you need accept it, and contact you directly. You choose who to go with.
