How to Use My Aged Care's Find a Provider Tool

Find a provider is My Aged Care's official directory of aged care providers. You search by location and the services you're approved for, shortlist up to 16 providers and compare 3 side by side, including Support at Home price lists. Here's how to use it, what to check, and the deadline to know about.

How to find a provider on My Aged Care

  1. 1

Open Find a provider on myagedcare.gov.au

Choose to start searching. You can answer a few questions about your needs for tailored results, or skip them to browse.

  2. 2

    Search your area and filter

Start with your location and the care program and services you're approved for. Filters such as Star Rating (for aged care homes) narrow the list.

  3. 3

    Shortlist up to 16 providers

Your shortlist saves to My Guide on My Aged Care, and you can email it to yourself or a family member.

  4. 4

Compare up to 3 side by side

Compare services, prices and other details. Support at Home providers must publish their full price list.

  5. 5

Contact them and agree your services

Ask whether they can start, then sign a service agreement with the provider you choose.

The 56-day deadline

For Support at Home, once you get a letter saying your funding is available, you have 56 calendar days from the date on that letter to find a provider and sign a service agreement. If you need longer, you can ask My Aged Care for another 28 days. It pays to shortlist providers before the letter arrives.

What to check before you choose

  • Can they start now, and how often will you see the same workers?
  • Do they offer every service in your support plan, in your area?
  • What do they charge per hour for each service, and for care management?
  • How do they handle changes, cancellations and complaints?

A faster way to find a provider with room

A directory shows every provider in your area, including the ones who are full, so you still have to ring around. Help Alliance is a free, independent matching service: tell us what you need once, and local providers who can start when you need get in touch. You talk to them and choose. Help Alliance doesn't provide care itself.
