What Is NDIS Home Care?
NDIS home care is support provided in your home by a trained support worker to help you with daily tasks your disability makes difficult or impossible to do independently. It is funded under the Assistance with Daily Life category in your Core Supports budget.
Who is NDIS home care for?
NDIS home care is for participants under 65 with a permanent disability who need support with personal care and daily living tasks in their home. The support is tailored to your individual goals and what's in your NDIS plan.
How is it funded?
NDIS home care is funded from your Core Supports budget under 'Assistance with Daily Life'. Funding is allocated annually and you can use it across multiple providers. The amount depends on your needs and functional capacity assessment.

Meal Preparation
Planning, shopping, and preparing nutritious meals based on your preferences and dietary needs, or simply having someone with you while you cook.

Medication reminders, prompting, and assistance to ensure consistent medication management as part of your daily routine.
Household Assistance
Light cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a safe and tidy home environment — tasks that keep your living space comfortable and accessible.
Overnight Support
Active overnight support or sleepovers for participants who need assistance or supervision during the night.
Daily Living Skills
Supporting you to build routines, practise daily tasks, and increase independence in your home over time.
How to Get NDIS Home Care
Whether you are new to the NDIS or already have a plan, here is how to access NDIS home care support.

Check your plan funding
Log in to the myNDIS portal and check whether your plan includes Core Supports — Assistance with Daily Life funding. Home care is delivered under this category. If you do not have an NDIS plan yet, you will need to apply to the NDIS first.

Talk to your planner or LAC about home care
At your next planning meeting or plan review, describe the specific daily living tasks your disability makes difficult. Be as detailed as possible — for example: 'I cannot shower safely without assistance due to my balance condition.' An OT functional capacity assessment supports your case.

Choose a provider and management type
Plan-managed and self-managed participants can use any provider. Agency-managed participants must use a registered provider. Help Alliance works with plan-managed and self-managed participants. Consider location, worker availability, experience with your disability type, and the provider's backup rostering policies.

Sign a service agreement
Your provider will prepare a service agreement that outlines the supports to be delivered, the frequency, the applicable NDIS line items and rates, and the cancellation policy. Review this carefully before signing.

Meet your support worker and start
Help Alliance will introduce you to your matched support worker before regular visits begin. You can request a different worker at any time if the fit is not right. Support can usually commence within days of your agreement being signed.
NDIS Home Care Costs
NDIS home care is charged at rates published in the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits. Registered providers cannot exceed these caps. Actual charges depend on when support is delivered.

These are the national price limits published in the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits 2026-27 (v1.1), in effect from 1 July 2026. They are maximums, not set prices — a provider may charge less. Light cleaning and laundry are claimed under the household tasks item, which is priced separately from personal care, so a week that mixes both will not be costed at a single hourly rate. What NDIS Home Care Does Not Cover
The NDIS applies a 'reasonable and necessary' test to all funded supports. Home care does not extend to tasks unrelated to your disability or that fall outside the NDIS's scope.
Lawn mowing, garden maintenance, or outdoor tasks
Home repairs, painting, or property maintenance
Cleaning or care for family members without a disability
Tasks that are the landlord's or housing provider's responsibility
Everyday household consumables and cleaning products
Medical nursing care such as wound care or IV medication (funded separately under Improved Health and Wellbeing)
Support that is not linked to the participant's disability
Services the participant can access free through the mainstream health or community system
Choosing Your NDIS Home Care Provider
You have the right to choose your provider. Here are the key factors to consider when selecting an NDIS home care provider in Perth.
Worker qualifications and screening
All workers should hold a current NDIS Worker Screening Check and relevant Certificate III or IV qualification. Ask providers how they verify worker credentials and how frequently checks are renewed.
Rostering consistency
Frequent roster changes are disruptive, especially for participants with cognitive or sensory disabilities. Ask how many different workers you will see per week and what the backup plan is when your regular worker is unavailable.
Experience with your disability type
A provider experienced with your specific condition — whether that is MS, ABI, autism, or a physical disability — will deliver more appropriate and effective support than a generalist provider without that background.
Registered vs unregistered providers
Registered providers are audited against NDIS Practice Standards. Agency-managed participants must use registered providers. Plan-managed and self-managed participants can choose unregistered providers, but should still verify worker screening and qualifications.
