What Is NDIS Supported Independent Living?
Supported Independent Living (SIL) is one of the most significant supports available through the NDIS. It funds the paid assistance participants need to live in their own home or a shared arrangement — covering daily tasks like personal care, meal preparation, household management, and community access.
Unlike SDA (which funds the physical property), SIL funds the support workers who help you live there. Help Alliance doesn't provide SIL itself. We pass your request to SIL providers in Perth who do.

SIL — Supported Independent Living

What to Ask a SIL Provider
Can they start when you need?
Ask whether they have a vacancy in a shared home, or can support you in your own home, and when they could start. Providers who accept a Help Alliance request have confirmed they can start when you need.
Will you see the same workers?
Ask how they keep the same workers on your roster, how many different workers you'd see in a week, and what happens when someone is sick or on leave.
Do they know your disability?
Ask about their experience supporting people with your disability, such as autism, intellectual disability, physical disability, acquired brain injury or psychosocial disability.
How will your roster work?
Ask how they'll build your Roster of Care, how shared hours are split between housemates, and how you can change things if your needs change.
